Bourda vendor freed of manslaughter

Justice Roxanne George-Wiltshire freed a Bourda market vendor in the High Court last week after a jury found her not guilty of manslaughter.

Kim Rampersaud was indicted for the December 2, 2006 murder of Erwin ‘Tall boy’ Forde. Forde operated a push cart at Bourda market and was reported to have owed Rampersaud $2,500.

Rampersaud, of 24, of 117 Alexander Street, Lacytown was said to have confronted Forde on the day in question over money he owed her when a scuffle ensued between the two. Forde was stabbed during the brawl and later succumbed to his injuries at the hospital.

The jury returned a ten to two majority in favour of an acquittal and Rampersaud was set free. Attorney-at-law Glen Hanoman represented the accused.
