Boyfriend to be charged in ‘Black Girl’ stabbing death -claiming self defence

The 22-year-old man, who hacked his teenage girlfriend to death on Friday, will make a court appearance this week following the post-mortem examination of the woman’s remains.

This newspaper understands that the man is making claims that the woman attacked him and he reacted in self-defence.

Stacy Ann Thomas called `Black Girl’ of Back Circle, East Ruimveldt was pronounced dead on arrival at the Georgetown Hospital around 11 am. She was drenched in blood after being stabbed countless times by the man at his brother’s Cowan and Duke streets, Kingston residence.

Following the incident, the man fled the area but turned up at the home of a relative who is a supernumerary constable several hours later. He along with the relative later went to the Fort Wellington Police Station, where he turned himself in. Arrangements were then made for him to be transported to Georgetown.

The dead woman relatives had told Stabroek News on Friday of incidents where the man displayed possessive and aggressive behaviour. They said that they had urged her to end the relationship with him and she had promised to do so. Relatives said that earlier this month the woman attempted to end the relationship but the man would not accept it.
