Three injured in Annai accident

Two men and a woman were taken to various city hospitals on Wednesday, after being injured in an accident, which occurred some time in the afternoon at Annai, North Rupununi.

Anthony Lieu-ken-Pen and two of his colleagues were transported to the Ogle Airport on Wednesday evening. Lieu-ken-Pen was taken to the St Joseph Mercy Hospital for immediate medical attention.

One of Lieu-ken-Pen’s arms was amputated and he was taken to the Georgetown Public Hospital at approximately 8 pm for X-rays and further treatment.

The other injured man and woman were taken to the Georgetown hospital. According to a source, the female having suffered head injuries, was in a critical condition and the man who sustained a broken leg arrived unconscious.

When this newspaper visited the Mercy hospital, colleagues of the man who were from Iwokrama refused to make a public statement and explained that the company would make the details of the incident public at convenient time.

Stabroek News understands that a truck belonging to Terrence Crawford was being driven along a route somewhere between the community of Annai and the Iwokrama compound. The details of the accident are sketchy. However, this newspaper understands that the truck somehow toppled, leaving the three individuals seriously injured.
