Police seek help in identifying body found in Demerara River

The police are seeking the assistance of the public in identifying the remains of a man who was found floating in the Demerara River in the vicinity of the Toolsie Persaud Limited Wharf on Good Friday.

A statement from the Police Public Relations Department, yesterday said that the body of an unidentified man of East Indian descent was found around 5 pm clad only in a pair of dark-coloured briefs and with his right arm strapped with a bandage.

Stabroek News was told that the body, which is lying at the Lyken’s/Newburg Funeral Home, had already started to decompose but the man’s features could still be made out. Up to press time last night, no one had visited the funeral home to claim the remains.
