A 56-year-old cyclist died after being hit by a motor lorry, which reportedly failed to stop at an intersection at Linden yesterday.
Dead is Royston Bailey of Canvas City, Wismar. A police press release stated that the police are investigating the fatal accident, which occurred at about 5 am yesterday at Washer Pond Road, Linden. Police said that investigations revealed that the driver of a motor lorry with a trailer attached was proceeding along Washer Pond Road when it is alleged that he failed to stop at the intersection with Riverside Drive and collided with the pedal cyclist. Bailey was taken to the Mackenzie Hospital where he died while receiving medical attention.
The driver of the motor lorry is in custody assisting with investigations, the police said.
