Arrest warrant issued for murder accused

Principal Magistrate Melissa Robertson-Olge on Friday issued an arrest warrant for Jermaine Conway who has been charged with the March 3 murder of Sherwin Jansen.

Conway, a 32-year-old US deportee, is accused of stabbing Jansen to death on Joseph Pollydore Street following a row over money.
On Friday, when the case was called for the first time, Conway, last known to be living in South Ruimveldt, was not present. A wanted bulletin was issued for him on March 29, but he has not been arrested so far.

The file was completed and taken to court and after a policeman swore to the information, the magistrate issued the arrest warrant.

According to the police, Jansen’s mother would send money for her son through Conway, since Jansen, also a US deportee has no form of identification.

Conway reportedly collected a sum of money but never handed it over to Jansen. Consequently, on the day in question, they had a heated argument. Conway reportedly ran home and armed himself with a knife. He later chased Jansen and stabbed him several times about the body and he fell to the ground.
Conway fled the scene while Jansen was rushed to the Georgetown Hospital. He was pronounced dead on arrival.

Police in their bulletin said that Conway is five feet ten inches tall with black hair and brown eyes. He is medium built.

Anyone with information that may lead to the arrest of Conway is asked to contact the police on the emergency 911 number or at the nearest police station.
The case has been adjourned to June 27.
