Driver accused of forging Rohee’s signature on tint permit

Principal Magistrate Melissa Robertson-Ogle last week placed a driver on $170,000 bail for uttering a document forged with the home affairs minister’s signature saying that he had permission to tint the windows on his vehicle.
According to the facts of the case Garry Frank, 31, of 67 Hadfield Street Lodge, on May 15, with intent to defraud, uttered a tint document purportedly signed by Minister Clement Rohee. Further, between January 30 and 31 Frank conspired with others to forge Rohee’s signature on the said document. Frank pleaded not guilty to the charges of conspiracy to commit a felony and uttering a forged document when he appeared at the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court. He was also charged with driving motor vehicle number PHH 2396 with heavily tinted windows that obstructed the identification of the driver and passengers.

Frank’s attorney told the court that his client applied for a tint permit and he received the document in question with the minister’s signature.

The prosecution did not object to bail. They submitted that Frank was stopped while driving his vehicle and he produced the said document. However, there were no records at the ministry to suggest that he was granted permission to tint the windows on his vehicle.

The magistrate placed Frank on $85,000 bail for each conspiracy charge and he was fined $10,000 for tinting his vehicle windows. The matter will continue on July 14.
