GBTI business forum Monday

The second biennial Guyana Bank for Trade and Industry (GBTI)-hosted Business Forum will be held on Monday and will be focused on the Cariforum-European Union (EU) Economic Partnership Agreement (EPA) and its implications.

At a press conference at the bank’s offices at Water Street yesterday, Credit Director, John Tracey recalled that the forum was first held in 2006.
The theme for this year’s forum is ‘The challenge to transform’ and is aimed at developing a stronger awareness of the new economic arrangement and the implications for the country and the business community in conducting business with the EU. The activity will be held at Le Meridien Pegasus Hotel.
It was stated that the EPA is an “important and critical topic for the business community to be aware of.”

Members of the business community producers and exporters, regulatory agencies, non-governmental organizations, cultural artistes and members of the academic community are expected to attend.

Making presentations would be Deputy Senior Director of the Caribbean Regional Negotiating Machinery (CRNM), Carl Greenidge, technical specialists from the CRNM, and others.
