Linden CPG gets boat, 4×4 vehicle

The home affairs ministry on Sunday handed over two vehicles and another item to the Linden Community Policing Group (CPG) to boost their work.

According to a Government Information Agency (GINA) press release Minister Clement Rohee handed over an engine, a speed boat and a 4×4 vehicle to the group. The minister also said government would be providing the resources from time to time to allow them to execute their mandate. He said too despite the Guyana Police Force’s limitations they, along with CPGs are doing their best to combat crime.

Executive Chairman of the CPG Andrew Forsythe said he was grateful for the donations, adding that they were timely and would be used to access far-flung areas. He said too that the group would ensure that maintenance works are conducted on the vehicles and that they are used for their intended purpose.

Meanwhile, Regional Chairman Mortimer Mingo said, “We welcome and embrace the initiative of having policing groups.” He said too security is the backbone for stability and development. GINA also said during a visit to Yakusari, Black Bush Polder, Berbice on Saturday, Rohee handed over the key, log book and instructions for the use of a 4×4 vehicle to the area’s chairman. This donation was the second contribution made to the CPG. Early in the year the group was given a motorcycle to enhance its work.
