Man injured in East Bank crash succumbs

The two-vehicle crash, which occurred on the Supply Public Road, East Bank Demerara on Tuesday, yesterday claimed a second life.

Abdool Razack, 63, succumbed to his internal injuries around 5:30 am. At the time of his death he was a patient of the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the Georgetown Hospital in an unconscious state. He was also on a life support machine.

Razack was laid to rest at Kuru Kururu, Linden/ Soesdyke Highway yesterday following a simple service at the Land of Canaan Masjid and viewing at his Lot 20 Garden of Eden home.

Taxi driver Carlton Lynch of Paradise was killed instantly early Tuesday morning when his vehicle collided head-on with a bus transporting a group of Muslims to the Land of Canaan Masjid for early morning prayers.

A police release had said that investigations revealed that Lynch of Paradise, East Coast Demerara was driving motor car HB 2268, proceeding towards Georgetown around 4:30 am, when his vehicle allegedly strayed into the path of minibus PDD 8880 which was proceeding in the opposite direction resulting in a collision.

The minibus, the police said, was driven by Insanally while Hazrat Ally; Yunis Insanally, 15 years; Yusuf Baksh, 42 years, and Razack, were passengers. Lynch was taken to the Georgetown Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

Razack was unconscious following the accident and underwent a CT scan and an operation.

Meanwhile, Insanally remains a patient of the High Dependency Unit of the same medical institution. He is said to be in a serious condition. He is conscious and is communicating with relatives.
