Fresco gets 18 months for gold bands

An East La Penitence man who pleaded guilty to simple larceny was given a “small sentence” of 18 months imprisonment when he appeared at the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court yesterday.

Principal Magistrate Melissa Robertson-Ogle handed down the sentence to 31-year-old Wendell Fresco of Lot 109 Sideline Dam. The man pleaded guilty to stealing two gold bands valued at $75,000.

According to the facts of the case on June 29 at the route 42 minibus park Fresco snatched the bands from Aruni Semple. The woman raised an alarm and Fresco was apprehended. The items were found in his pants.
The defendant pleaded with the magistrate to give him a “small sentence.”
