Smart and Nurse Donna Fraser were presented with gifts at the event which was held at the Bush Lot Health Centre to mark the second quarter of the Maternal and Child Health/Expanded Pro-gramme on Immunization Review.

Senior Health Visitor (SHV) of Region Five, Nurse Deslyn Fraser said that the two were chosen because of their dedication, commitment and hard work in their fields. She mentioned that Smartt would always offer support to the nurses in getting their work done.

According to her, Donna Fraser was chosen because she “does not like to say no; whenever you call her she is there. She is very committed and would execute her services with good quality.”

The SHV said too that even though she works at the health centre she would contribute her services to the hospitals as well.

Also receiving an award was Nurse Verlene Ross (retired) for her outstanding services with the Ministry of Health.  Ross retired from the profession three months ago after serving for a period of 25 years.

The women expressed gratitude for the award which they said came as a surprise. Donna Fraser told Stabroek News that she was very happy to receive the award and that it would motivate her to work harder.

She said she is always willing to assist whenever she is called upon because she has recognized the importance of health care.

She encouraged others to “strive hard and always do your best to get maximum results.”
