Skeleton found in Corentyne

Thought to be man missing since February
Cane-harvesters discovered a skeleton suspected to be that of an elderly man of Guava Bush, Albion said to be missing since last February, in the backlands of Ankerville, Corentyne around 9.30 am yesterday.

Stabroek News learnt that the workers, attached to a Guysuco estate were weeding in “field 28; bed 27” when they made the discovery.
Reports are that the men last worked in that field in February, around the same time that the man who was in his 70s was reported missing. The skeletal remains were clad in “maroon” underwear and a pair of cream-coloured corduroy pants which appeared to be faded.
His dentures were also in place. Stabroek News understands that persons had last seen the man who lived alone in a pair of yellow corduroy pants.

A close relative who was residing in a shack in the man’s yard was said to be the prime suspect. Shortly after the disappearance the relative produced a “deed of gift” for the man’s property.

However, reports are that the man’s children had questioned the authenticity of the document, claiming that their father had been overseas at the time that the document had been reportedly signed.

After the relative made a missing person’s report to the police a search was conducted. Investigators had even dug sections of the yard in an effort to find him. The man’s children had also come from overseas to be a part of the investigation.

They had sought the services of a private investigator as well. Reports are that they would return to determine whether the body was that of their father.
