Brazilian robbed at gunpoint at Wenamu

A Brazilian who was aboard a dredge in the Wenamu River, was held at gun point early yesterday morning and robbed of a quantity of raw gold by three men, two of whom were armed with guns. A police press release issued just before eight last night, said that around 2 am yesterday the men drove up in a motorboat and robbed a river dredge of a quantity of raw gold.

According to the police, Delmar Copetti, a Brazilian was aboard the craft, which was working gold in the Wenamu River, Cuyuni when the suspects boarded and held him up at gunpoint before relieving him of the raw gold.
The bandits then made good their escape in the said boat, the release. Investigations are continuing and up to press time last night none of the bandits had been apprehended.
