Woman granted $50,000 bail over fraudulently converting $188,000

A woman who is alleged to have fraudulently converted money she was entrusted with to her own use was placed on $50,000 bail when she appeared at the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court on Thursday.

Desiree Grant of 504 East Ruimveldt, Georgetown pleaded not guilty to the charge when it was read to her by Acting Chief Magistrate Melissa Robertson-Ogle.

It is alleged that on January 4 and May 10, Grant was entrusted with $188,000 by Terrence Chase to deposit into his bank account, but  converted the money to her own use and benefit.

The magistrate placed the woman on $50,000 bail and the matter was transferred to Court Two for October 15.
