About $2M in prizes given out for Deepavali motorcade

The Guyana Hindu Dharmic Sabha distributed almost $2M in prizes at this year’s Deepavali motorcade.
In a press release President of the Sabha Pandit Reepu Daman Persaud said he was overwhelmed by the support the festival received and was grateful to those who contributed to the event. There were seven motorcades including Berbice and Essequibo. The floats in Georgetown including those along the East Bank and East Coast converged at La Bonne Intention for the prize giving ceremony.

The Murti Shop, sponsored by the Guyana Power and Light won the first prize in the small category of floats, followed by the Bhuvaneshwar Mandir sponsored by Regal Stationery and Ryderz Sound sponsored by Demerara Distillers Limited (DDL).

In the large category the Dharmic Naujawaan sponsored by the Guyana Bank for Trade and Industry won the first prize followed by the Hare Krishna Movement and the Better Hope Mandir both sponsored by Banks DIH and the Neal and Massy Guyana Group.

The Edward B Beharry and Company float sponsored by TCL Guyana Inc won the first prize in the commercial category followed by DDL and Guyana Times both sponsored by Denmor Garments Manufacturers Inc. Also, Andrew Arts for Edward B. Beharry & Company won the best designer prize in the commercial category.
