Police take Wismar robbery suspect, two others into custody

Three men were taken into police custody, one of them suffering from a minor gunshot wound, after police swooped down on a house at Blueberry Hill Wismar acting on information that a robbery suspect was residing there.

In a press release issued yesterday the police said they approached the house around 13:13 hours on Friday and were met by gunfire. They returned fire and the man who police suspect is responsible for a number of break and enter and robberies was hit by a bullet, which grazed his thigh.

He was a taken to the McKenzie Hospital where he was treated and placed in police custody.
The police recovered a .32 revolver which found to belong to a contractor who lost his licensed firearm during a break and enter at Linden in October 2008.

The release also said that the firearm had not been stolen from a member of the police force as had been implied in a certain section of the media yesterday.
It added that charges would be laid shortly.
