Good Hope man tendered fake US visa at airport

Acting Chief Magistrate Melissa Robertson granted bail in the sum of $190,000 to a man who allegedly forged a Guyana passport and inserted a fake United States (US) visa.

Bascom Lallbachan, 44, of 21 Good Hope, Mahaica pleaded not guilty to charges of uttering a forged document and conspiracy to commit a felony when he appeared at the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday.

It is alleged that on November 27 at the Cheddi Jagan International Airport, Timehri, Lallbachan uttered to a police constable one Republic of Guyana passport in favour of himself with a US visa inserted purporting to show it was genuine and had been issued to him by the US authorities knowing the same to be false.

Further, between October 1 and November 22 at Station Street, Kitty the accused along with a person or persons unknown conspired to commit a felony – that is to say he inserted a fake US visa in a Republic of Guyana passport in favour of himself.

Lallbachan was granted bail in the sum of $95,000 on  each charge and he has to return to court on January 20.
