Two in court over clothes basket bust

A mother and a teenaged relative appeared in the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court on Friday jointly charged with possession of narcotics for the purpose of trafficking.

Carol Coz, 49, of Stevedore Squatting Area and the relative denied the allegation when it was read to them by Magistrate Hazel Octive-Hamilton and they were later remanded.

It is alleged that on Tuesday at Georgetown, the two had in their possession 121.5 grammes of cannabis for the purpose of trafficking.

Reports are that on the day in question at about 6:40 am police carried out a search for narcotics at a house in Stevedore Squatting Area where a black bag containing the narcotics was discovered in a clothes basket. The two were in the house and were arrested and subsequently charged.

The matter continues on February 8.
