Blood collection drive at Marian Academy very successful

On February 14, 2008 the Marian Academy hosted the first blood drive at a primary or secondary school in the history of blood collection in Guyana.

The event was organised by volunteers on behalf of the Guyana Red Cross in partnership with the National Blood Transfusion Service (NBTS) and a press release states that there was great interest and support.

The NBTS collected the largest number of productive units ever at a single blood drive. The organizers thanked the students, volunteers and blood donors that participated.

Today at 1030 hours, the Guyana Red Cross will present Marian Academy with a plaque of achievement.
