Under-the-bed murder suspect to be charged

The Supply, East Bank Demerara man, who reportedly killed his wife in a fit of rage on Sunday before hiding the body underneath a bed, will be charged with murder shortly.

The suspect after reportedly committing the crime fled to his hometown of Adelphi, Canje in Berbice were he was convinced by relatives to give himself up to police.

He turned up at the Reliance Police Station where he reportedly confessed to the brutal crime.

The man who had been married to 24-year-old Fiona Fraser-Mc Pherson was yesterday escorted from Berbice to the city by the police.

The lifeless body of Fraser-McPherson was discovered lying under a bed in her Lot 12 Supply home with her hands bound behind the back and a vest around her neck.

Police said the discovery was made around about 8 am on Monday.

The woman’s uncle Monty Fraser had told Stabroek News that he left the couple alone around noon on Sunday and when he returned around 2 pm, a padlock was on the door indicating that they were out. All seemed well with the couple when he left.

It was reported to this newspaper that the couple, who had been married for four years, quarrelled frequently.  Fraser-McPherson was scheduled to travel to Barbados on Friday where she had managed to secure a job, a move that apparently did not please him.

A post-mortem examination will be conducted on her remains on Friday.
