Accused of breaking into three houses

An eighteen-year-old boy who allegedly broke and entered the houses of three individuals and stole a quantity of items worth over $500, 000 was remanded to prison yesterday when he appeared before Magistrate Melissa Robertson at the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court.

Bernard Sam of 6173 Albouystown, pleaded not guilty to three counts of break and enter and larceny when the charges were read to him.

It is alleged that on June 7, Sam broke and entered the home of Tercia Ally and stole a computer, a DVD player and a video game, all valued $170,159.

It is also alleged that on August 26, Sam broke and entered the home of Monica Primo and stole a DVD player, two bottles of rum and three gold rings, all valued $115,000.

It is further alleged that on August 30, Sam broke and entered the home of Keith Pelu and stole an I-pod, a quantity of cash and a quantity of jewellery, all valued $293,000.

The magistrate also told Sam that he had two arrest warrants that were issued for him, the first for escaping from police custody and the other for stealing a gold chain. Sam admitted the he had not attended court when his cases were called.
