New suspect sought in Better Hope stabbing

Police on the East Coast are looking for a new man in connection with last week’s Better Hope murder, after releasing two suspects on station bail.

Contacted yesterday, ‘C’ Division Commander Balram Persaud said that the police are looking for someone to assist with their investigations. Latchman Persaud, 23, called ‘Boyo,’ was knifed to death several streets from his home on November 23. According to reports it was jealousy over a recent promotion that fuelled the incident.

Police said Persaud left home shortly after receiving a telephone call and was later heard shouting for help. He was discovered in front of his residence with stab wounds to the body.
A knife, suspected to have been used in the attack, was recovered at the scene by the police. Villagers subsequently held by police were released.

Meanwhile, the trail has gone cold in the investigations into the murder of 25-year-old Vickesh Budhram as investigators continue to look for the gunmen who carried out the deadly assault.

Around 10 pm, two Saturdays’ ago, the carpenter was shot dead as he slept with his wife in their Lot 642 Seventeenth Street, Foulis, East Coast Demerara home. He sustained a single gunshot wound to the neck and was pronounced dead at the Georgetown Hospital. So far no has been held for questioning into the latest execution style killing and the motive is still unclear. Robbery has been ruled out as no valuables were taken by the gunmen and no one else was harmed during the attack.
