Region Seven gets solar-powered water system

The Guyana Water Incorporated (GWI) is installing a solar-powered water system to boost supply in several Region Seven communities.

The Government Information Agency (GINA) said the photovoltaic systems will be donated at a cost of over $13M and will serve 1000 residents of Waramadong, 200 in Kato, 160 in Quebenang and 15000 in Jawalla.

GWI said a contract was signed between the agency and contractor Muhammad Abdullah for the supply of materials and transportation of the systems. According to GINA similar systems were installed in several remote communities such as Aishalton, Sand Creek and Yupukari in Region Nine and St Cuthbert’s Mission in Region Four.
