Consumers need protection from shoddy commercial practices

Dear Editor,

Kudos to the Chinese Embassy for striving to protect its citizens and resolving their problems at the Embassy. It is a shame and a pity the citizens of Guyana have no recourse for their consumer problems through a Consumer Protection Bill, but must rely on the very limited assistance available from the Consumer Desk at the Ministry of Tourism or the Consumers Association.

Goods not returnable, or exchangeable and no money for refunds should not be acceptable commercial practices in this day and age.

Yours faithfully,
