Create security forces in each region

Dear Editor,

The clearing of the bushes in the Buxton backdam will be useless six months from today because the bushes will recover. This is how vegetation behaves in the tropics. This means that Rawlins and his gang have moved to another region and are receiving support from certain members of the public. The only way we will know is if he strikes again.

A more meaningful plan is to develop regional army and police forces in Berbice, East Coast, West Coast, Essequibo and Rupununi each with its own command and SWAT team. The men of these forces should be from the same region and trained by people from outside.

The present Georgetown command can then concentrate on the city.

Yours faithfully,
