Friday, May 23 is a Baha’i holy day

Dear Editor,
Friday, May 23, 2008 is a Baha’i holy day! On that day Baha’is with their relatives and friends will observe with prayers at devotional gatherings all across the world, including some communities in Guyana, the 164th anniversary of the day in 1844, when His Holiness the Bab (1819-50) antecedent to Baha’u’llah (Prophet founder of the Baha’i faith) informed some of His close companions that He is the promised one foretold of, that all mankind was expecting to herald a new revelation from God.

It also marks then the beginning of the Baha’i Faith, the Baha’i Era (BE) and the Baha’i calendar.
For Baha’is that day is universally termed the Declaration of the Bab, and as well for them that date marks an event of transcendent significance in the evolution of religion and civilization.
Yours faithfully,
