No classroom available for one Grade 3 class

Dear Editor,

The new school term has started for many schools. My child attends Graham’s Hall Primary, a school known for doing well at its Grade 6 Assessment. My child is now entering Grade 3.

For the first day of a new school term, parents would go to the school to make sure that their child has been seated in their classroom, and also to get acquainted with the teacher of the class.

On Monday, I was eager to reach the Grade 3 teacher, only to be told by one of the other teachers of the school that there was no classroom available for this particular class of children coming over from Grade 2.

We understood from a senior member of the staff that we would have to wait one week or a month to know exactly where the children would be placed. It is my understanding that a classroom for this Grade 3 class does not exist; previously children coming from Grade 2 to this class had to be split up and placed in other Grade 3 classes which then became overcrowded. It seemed as if they wanted to change that for this new school term. How-ever, school was closed for two months, and this issue should have been sorted out during that period.

I should be grateful if this matter could be looked into as early as possible.

Yours faithfully,
