Berbice Cricket Board elects committee members

The recently appointed executives of the Berbice Cricket Board of Control (BCB) held their first executive meeting for 2008 and the relevant office bearers of committees were elected.

The newly elected executive body of the BCB which is headed by businessman Jafarally Asrafali along with Rodwell Henry and Seepaul Sampat has been elected to represent the BCB at meetings held by the Guyana Cricket Board (GCB), with the alternates being Julian Cambridge, Hubern Evans and Tejenarine Ramroop.

The ‘B’ Division Commander of the Guyana Police Force along with the Chairman of Selectors Albert Smith has been appointed as Executive members of the Board. Also given such appointments were Henry, Sampat, Cambridge, Evans, Ramroop and Lloyd Kanden.

Former Secretary of the BCB and present manager of the senior Guyana cricket team, Carl Moore, has been appointed chairman of the Competitions Committee. He will have as his assistant, second vice president David Black, Vemen Walter, Leslie Solomon, Winston Smith, Ramesh Seetaram, Deosarran Ramdass, Jagessar Tribhowan (Secretary), Aubrey Collins and BCB Secretary Angela Haniff.

National coach Albert Smith will head the selection committee with assistance from Evans, Solomon, Cambridge, Mark Lyte, Adrian Amsterdam and Dennis De Andrade.

Treasurer Anil Beharry will head the Marketing/ Finance Committee with the BCB president as his assistant. Other members of that committee are Assistant Treasurer Romash Munna, Black, Evans, Lyte, Hilbert Foster, Michael Ramdeen and Haniff. The Cricket Development Committee will be headed by Keith Foster and includes Michael Hyles, Dhieranidranauth Somwaru, Zaheer Moakan and national female captain Tremayne Smartt.

Moore will also be at the helm of the Public Relations Department, a position in which he hasperformed in an exemplary manner over the past 10 years. He will be assisted by Walter, Samuel Whyte, Sean Devers, Michael Etwaroo, Sydney Jackman, Gregory Rambarran and Hilbert Foster.

Hilbert Foster, Black, Beharry, Whyte, Winston Smith, Rambarran Somwaru and Haniff are all members of the Special events Committee with Foster holding the position of chairman.

The Trustees of the BCB are: Mursalene Bacchus, Rohan Chandan and Michael Baird all Attorneys-at -law, whilst Vicky Bharosay the Assistant Secretary of the BCB will serve as ex-officio on all committees.
