Country Side and Street Boys creates upset

Country Side softball team of Lusignan and Street Boys of Providence, created upsets whilst Rocky XI remained the lone unbeaten team when action in the Trophy Stall 15-overs-a-side softball cricket competition continued last week end with a series of matches.

Playing at the Everest ground, Country Side won the toss and made 119-6 from their 15 overs with Rushy Samaroo leading the way with a splendid 52 which was decorated with four sixes.

Raymond Harper took 2-19 bowling for Regal XI who were bowled out for 104 from 14.5 overs. Waslim Haslim made 15 as Avenash Deonarine claimed 3-17.

Street Boys in their first match created an upset by defeating the highly-favoured Farm Masjid by seven wickets.

Farm Masjid batted first and scored 102 all out in 15 overs. Vivian Bissoon 45 (5×6; 1×4) was the only batsman to offer resistance to the bowling of Tony Singh who took 5-11 from three overs and John Singh (2-15).

Street Boys, in reply, made 108-3 in 12.1 overs John Gabbar led the batting with a polished 50 (6×6) while Patrick Khan took 2-25 for farm Masjid who were let down by their fielders who dropped four catches.

Street Boys upset Next Level XI by three wickets

Next Level batted first and scored 124 all out in 15 overs. Ameer Ally made 35 (3×6) and Haresh Indar 30 (3×6) for Next Level.

Tony Singh (3-15) and John Singh (3-22) were the principal wicket-takers for Street Boys who, in reply, made 126-7 in 13 overs. Waheed Khan 30 (3×6) and Mark Rove 19 (2×4) led them to victory. Prem Ramnarine took 2-15 for Next Level.

Hyde Park made light work of La Grange

Hyde Park XI won the toss and batted making 143-7 in 15 overs. Alim Mohamed 44 (4×6) and Dinesh Lalleram 15 (1×6) were the principal scorers as Khemraj Persaud took 3-22.

La Grange were bundled out for 33 as their batsmen failed to negotiate the bowling of former Under-19 player Ucil Armstrong who claimed 6-11 to ensure the victory.

Ruimzeight XI took care of Top Notch

Ruimzeight XI batted first and scored 150-8 in 15 overs. Thakurdat Yaidat’ 34 (3×6) was the lone score of interest in his team’s innings as Mahesh Narine (3-20) and Trevor Atkinson (3-25) contained the Ruimzeight batsmen.

In reply, Top Notch fell short reaching 125 all out in 14.4 overs despite the efforts of Randy Ramroop 28 (2×6) and Seenauth Bissesar 25 (3×4). Mohanram Chaitram took 3-15 for Ruimzeight XI.

Hyde Park XI lost to Boom Blast XI

Boom Blast XI were inserted by Hyde Park XI and were soon in trouble being three wickets down for only 15 runs from four overs but a late rally from Ramotar Ramroop 24 (3×6) Ravin Lochan 15 (2×4) took them to 73 all out in 11.3 overs.

Armstrong took 5-13 from three overs to continue his good showing with the ball for the day. David Lalleram supported with 3-12. When Hyde Park batted, they faltered badly losing their last 8 wickets for 26 runs with Ramotar Ramroop returning with the ball to take 4-4 from three overs and Richard Ramdhan 4-22 from his three overs.

La Grange XI defeats Unstoppable XI by 76 runs

Batting first, La Grange made 180 all out in 14.5 overs with Ricky Persaud 31(3×6) and John Ramotar 31(4×6) leading the way. Abdool Khan took 3-13 for Unstoppable XI were bowled out for 104 from 9 overs in reply. Nawar Khan 22(2×6) was the only batsman to post a substantial score as Persaud returned to take 3-15 from 3 overs.

Rocky XI maintains winning streak

Rocky XI of Meten-Meer-Zorg West Coast continued their winning ways by to remain undefeated in their zone by taking care of Top Notch of Crane in their first match.

Top Notch XI won the toss and batting first scored 136-9 in 15 overs. Randy Ramroop led the batting with 25(2×6) and received support from Moses Naraine 18(2×4). Ravi Rambharose 3-32 and Davendra Khusial (3-33) led the bowling for Rocky XI who made 137-8 in 13 overs to win by two wickets. Azad Azeez 59(6×6) and George Narine 26(4×4) led the victory charge for their team against the bowling of Anand Bissesar 3-17.12.00

Rocky XI of Meter-Meer-Zorg got past Next Level by 6 wickets

Next Level batted first rattling up 139 all out in 15 overs (Ameer Ali 71 (4×6;4×4) Khalid Mohamed 44(3×6;4×4) Ravi Rambharose 3-10 from three overs) In reply Rocky XI made 140-4 wickets(Ravi Rambharose 32 (3X6); Davendra Khusial 31 (4×6);Bharat Ramdial 2-12)

2.00PM:- Bourda Market XI got a walkover from Shivala Academy.

Ariel XI defeats Savage XI by 1 wicket:

Savage batted first and scored 120-9 in 15 overs. Terrence Plummer made 30 (2×6) whilst Richard Geer 24 (3×4) offered support. Powtie Motilall 2-24 for Ariel XI who were let off the hook as Savage XI dropped several catches making 124-9 in 14.5 overs. Eon Mohabir made the most of his chances to score a worthy 42 (5×4) for his team. Vicky Ramsaywack took 2-15 for Savage XI.

Savage XI lost to Trophy Stall by nine wickets

Savage XI batted first and scored 100-9 in 15 overs. Rudy Rodrigues 27 (4×4) led the batting as Ravi Ramnauth 3-6 and Rajin Mohamed 3-6 did the damage for Trophy Stall who in reply knocked off the runs for the loss of one wicket reaching 102-1 in 12 overs. Rajin Mohamed with 51 not out (4×6) led the victory charge for Trophy Stall XI.

There were walk overs for FirecrewXI and All Stars whose opponents were no shows.
