Bharat scores 6th ton in Trophy Stall competition

Led by an explosive batting display from Anand Bharat who stroked an unbeaten 108, the sixth hundred of the competition that included 12 sixes, Ruimzeight XI made an unassailable 235-2 from their 15 overs to defeat Bourda Market XI by 66 runs in their second game of the day as the Trophy Stall 15 overs softball cricket competition continued on Sunday at the Providence ground.

Mohanram Chaitram offered good support with 53 (6x6s) as Daniram Dasrat took 1-53 for Bourda Market XI who in reply were held to 167-8 when their overs ran out.

Ramcharran Singh with 31 (3x6s) and Orin Samuels 22 (3x6s) were the principal scorers for Bourda Market XI as Chaitram returned to claim 3-20 and Thakurdat Yaidat 2-10.

In their first game, Ruimzeight XI made a mockery of Street Boys bowling to score 190-6 from their 15 overs batting first. Chaitram was the chief run scorer with an attractive 60 (5x6s), while Jairam Parsram 41 (3x6s) offered support. Dasrat Parbu took 1-53 for Street Boys who were then bowled out for 124 at the end of their 15 overs.

Ramcharran Singh led the batting with 33 (3x6s) as Thakurdat Yaidat took 3-10 and Chaitram 3-20 from their three overs each.

Farm Masjid in quarter finals

Farm Masjid made their way into the quarter-finals of the Trophy Stall-sponsored 15 overs softball cricket competition when they defeated Top Notch of Crane by 48 runs.

Farm Masjid won the toss and opting to bat first made 150-4 from their 15 overs. Leading the batting was Vivian Bissoon who made an unbeaten 49 that was decorated with four sixes. Younis Mohammed struck three sixes in his 24 in offering support to Mohammed. Trevor Thomas led the bowlers for Top Notch with 2-8 from his three overs, but their batsmen did not display any signs of responsibility as they were bowled out for 102 from 14.1 overs.

Seenauth Bissessar with 20 (3x6s) and Randy Ramroop 19 (2x6s) were the only batsmen to offer resistance as Mohammed returned with the ball to claim 3-1 from his three overs to lead his side into the quarter-finals.

There were back to back wins for La Jalousie Estate, La Grange XI and Hyde Park respectively.

In their first game against Street Boys, La Jalousie batted first and were dismissed for 124 off the final delivery of their 15th over. Raj Harrinarine contributed 35(3x6s) and Roy Singh chipped in with 21 (2x6s). John Singh 3-20 and Tony Singh 2-25 were the wicket takers for Street Boys who were limited to 105-6 in their turn at the crease. Anand Singh made 38 with three sixes as Doodnauth Dhanraj took 1-6 from his three overs.

In their second game, La Jalousie easily defeated Top Notch by 32 runs. Batting first, La Jalousie scored 133-9 from 15 overs. Zaman Osman made 24 (2x6s) against the bowling of Travis Atkinson 3-16 for Top Notch.

Despite the efforts of Deenauth Baksh 39 (3x6s), Top Notch were dismissed for 101 from 14.2 overs. Dhanraj was once again the wrecker with the ball as he claimed 4-18 from his three overs.

Hyde Park

Hyde Park who gained a walkover from Young Warriors of Anna Catherina in their first game defeated Hustlers XI by 34 runs in their second game.

Winning the toss and opting to bat first, Hyde Park were bowled out for 115 from 14.5 overs. Dinesh Lall 33 (3x6s) and Deon Smith 29 (2x6s) were the principal scorers for Hyde Park.

Bowling for Hustlers, Deon Smith took 3-16 and former Under-19 player Ucil Armstrong with 2-19 were the leading wicket takers for Hustlers who were bowled out for 81 in just 13 overs. Raheem Ali with 24 (2x4s) and Zaheer Haniff 20 (2x6s) were the leading batsmen for Hustlers. Bowling figures for Hyde Park were unavailable.

La Grange

La Grange defeated Hustlers XI and Bourda Market XI to complete the list of double winners for the day.

In the first game, Hustlers batted first and were bowled out for 142 from 14.2 overs. Ashraf Alli 31 was the lone batsman to offer resistance to the bowling of Dharmendra Persaud 3-26 for La Grange who in reply reached 143-2 from 12.5 overs. Ricky Persaud with an unbeaten 82 (5×6) and Kenneth Persaud 40 (4×6) led the victory charge for La Grange.

In their second game, they defeated Bourda Market by eight wickets. Bourda Market took first strike and were bowled out for 109 from 15 overs with only Orin Samuels 28 (3x6s) against the bowling of Deryck Singh 3-19.

In reply, La Grange made 110-2 from their 15 overs with Ricky Persaud making 48 as John Rochel took 1-10 bowling for Bourda Market XI.
