Bounty Farm squash Mash handicap tourney continues

The Guyana Squash Association’s Bounty Farm Mash Handicap Squash Tournament which started last Monday has begun to heat up with players already qualifying for the quarterfinal matches.

In the open category seasoned campaigners such as Ashley Khalil, Alexander and Andrew Arjoon and Daina King were among the victors in the first round Tuesday evening. Khalil pulled off an outstanding win against former national player Reagon Pollard while Alexander Arjoon ovecame a -25 handicap to stop rising star Deje Dias(-10) and emerge as the only player to overcome a negative handicap.

In category A of the first round, huge wins were recorded by Victoria Arjoon (-10) and Mary Fung-A-Fat (-10) who both came back from large handicaps to claim spots in the quarterfinals.

On Wednesday evening the open plate round of the competition was played and saw superb squash being played by both of the Jeffery sisters who effortlessly qualified for the quarters, as well as Jerozeno Bell who was faced with a tough challenger in young Jason-Ray Khalil.

Young hot shot Khalil managed to capture the first set from Bell 6/15 despite a rusty start. Bell, returned from being one set down to win two consecutive sets to gain victory despite the valiant efforts of young Khalil.
