NALICO/NAFICO Inter-Association U-15 competition

Defending champions Georgetown and East Bank Demerara, recorded easy wins as action in the NALICO/NAFICO-sponsored Demerara Cricket Board (DCB)

At the Georgetown Cricket Club (GCC) ground, Georgetown easily defeated West Demerara by 160 runs to complete their second successive victory which virtually guaranteed them a spot in tomorrow’s finals.

Winning the toss and fielding first, West Demerara looked on helplessly as the defending champions, led by Alex Ramalho (58) and Dayanand Roopnarine (52) posted 240-9 from their allotted 50 overs.

Extras contributed 37 while captain Kwame Cross and Vishal Narayan chipped in with 19 and 18 runs respectively.

Frank Persaud 2-20 was the pick of the bowlers for West Demerara, who, in reply, were bowled out for 80 from 36.1 overs.

Arvin Seepersaud (12) and Troy Bobb (10) were the only batsmen to offer resistance as Amir Khan grabbed 4-17 and left-arm orthodox spinner Raj Nanan 2-8.

At the Everest Cricket Club ground, Camp Road, East Bank inflicted a second defeat on East Coast which left them out of the competition.

Winning the toss and batting on a flat wicket East Coast were dismissed for 81 off 28 overs with Brian Sattaur, 12, the only batsman to show any resistance.

Ricardo Mahase Jagesh, Mark Anthony and Paul Neil picked up 3-6, 2-9 and 2-12 respectively.

In reply, East Bank reached 82-4 from 26 overs with Totaram Bishun, 22 not out and Hemraj Singh, 19, the principal scorers.

Poorandra Jaigobin took 2-19 bowling for East Coast.

The competition continues today with Georgetown against East Bank at Everest and East Coast against West Demerara at Bourda.

The venue for the final is yet to be decided.
