Dolphin are G’town 20/20 champs

Dolphin Secondary were crowned Georgetown champions of the Guyana Crickey Board (GCB) sponsored Inter-Secondary Schools Under-19 female 20/20 cricket competition, when they defeated Tutorial High School by nine runs in the final at the Gandhi Youth Organisation (GYO)ground yesterday.

Dolphin took first strike and were bowled out for 74 from 17.3 overs with Adriana Hackett’s 20 being the main contributor.

Teneisha Carto with 4-14 and Alicia Edwards 3-2 did the damage with the ball for Tutorial who were then bowled out for 65 from 17.3 overs in reply.

Carto returned with the bat to make a fighting 22 (4x4s; 1x6s) whilst Iana Primo made an unbeaten 13 against the bowling of Iana Beckles (4-18), Jewala Caesar (2-13) and Joyana Phoenix 2-17 bowling for Dolphin.

For her outstanding performance with the ball, Carto was adjudged ‘woman of the match’ and received a trophy to that effect. The Demerara Zone final between Dolphin Secondary and Friendship Secondary Schools respectively will be played at a venue and date to be announced later by the organizers.
