Pistons, Patriots set to clash in NCN 2nd div C/ships

The Wismar Pistons and the Patriots are the last two teams standing after an eventful season in the National Communications Network (NCN) Second Division basketball league and will meet in the finals this Saturday evening at the Mackenzie Sports Club Hard Court in Linden.

After contesting the round robin preliminary stage of the competition which included some 13 teams, Patriots Victory Valley Royal, Pistons and Alleyene’s Retrieve Raiders remained as the final four.

In the first semifinals Wismar Pistons defeated Alleyene’s Retrieve Raiders 52-46. Pistons entered every quarter of the game leading and lead by as much as five points at the half way point.

Mark Louis led all scores in his team’s six-point victory with 14 points while centre

Kelvin Boston chipped in with 10 points for the Pistons. The versatile Louis James managed to add a respectable 10 points for his team after being off the court for close to a year, while Jermaine Hamilton also registered 10 points in his team’s losing effort.

Victory Valley Royals fell to the Patriots 65-60 in the other semifinal match.

Patriots got much help on the offensive end from Seon Charles who finished the game with 17 points while teammates Neil Marks and Leslie Bastiani added 15 and nine points respectively.

For the Royals, Dwight Cooper and Mark Richards each registered 16 points while Chris Williams and Orlando Glasgow combined for 22 points from their 11 points apiece.
