‘B’ Division holds taped ball Twenty20 fund raiser

On March 22 at the All Saints Scots Church ground, Princess Elizabeth Road, New Amsterdam, the police Berbice Division will be holding a four- team Tape Ball Twenty20 competition as a fund-raising raising effort for the Police Cricket Club in Berbice.

The event is expected to be bowled off by Assistant Commissioner Clinton Conway at 13:00h and the four teams expected to take part are the Police Cricket Club, the Rosehall Town Youth and Sports Club of Corentyne, the Young Warriors Cricket Club of East Canje and De Edward Cricket Club of West Berbice.

Incentives are up for grabs for the winner and runner up teams. Prizes will also be awarded in the final to the man of the match and the best bowler and batsman.

The Police Cricket Club has been one of the outstanding cricket teams in the Ancient County and has been participating at all levels of cricket, organized by the Berbice Cricket Board.

Earlier this year systems were put in place to make a step forward for the club. A General Meeting was held and a body was elected to govern the club. Assistant Superintendent Ian Amsterdam was elected President and Inspector Rodwell Henry the Vice President. Sergeant Yonnette Stephens was appointed Secretary and Neil Williams the Treasurer.

Zaheer Moakhan (coach), Jevaughn Stephen (captain), Imran Moakhan (vice captain) and Roschell Collins and Natoya Henry (scorers) were also called to undertake tasks.

Two other committees were also put in place; the Finance and the Disciplinary. The finance committee comprises Yonnette Stevens, Neil Williams, Natoya Henry, Jerry Helyger and Lawrence Badhur.

Disciplinary: Ian Amsterdan, Natoya Henry, Yonnette Stephens, Rahslet Benn, the coach and the captain.
