Coca Cola U-15 competition resumes with quarter-final matches

Following a short break brought on by the completion of the round robin matches on Wednesday, the Georgetown Football Association (GFA) Coca Cola Under-15 football competition will resume today with four matches at two different venues.
At the Camptown ground from 8.30am, Beacons Football Club will come up against Santos Football Club while from 10.30am, Thomas United will do battle with Crane.
And, over at the Tucville ground, Fruta Conquerors tackles Alpha United from 8.30am while Plaisance United comes up against Georgetown Football Club (GFC) two hours later. On Wednesday at the Alpha United ground, Thomas Lands, the home team defeated Buxton United 4-1 in a key encounter.
Alpha United, were on six points from five matches while Buxton was one point ahead from a similar amount of matches setting the stage for a keen contest with the winner earning a place in the last eight.
It was Alpha who was to advance as a Victor Miggins double in the 11th and 47th minute coupled with strikes from Keston Lamoto 16th and Keitzel Bazilio 50th, sent the home team through.
Buxton United’s lone goal came from Keron Norville in the 46th minute.
The win moved Alpha United to fourth place in Group A with nine points setting up a quarter-final date with Group B winners Fruta Conquerors.
In Group A, Beacons FC, under coach Gordon “Ultimate Warrior” Braithwaite, amassed 16 points from five wins and one draw to top the group.
Thomas United, GFC and Alpha United were second third and fourth respectively and moved on to the quarter-final stage.
In Group B, Fruta Conquerors FC topped the group with four victories and two draws.
Plaisance United, Crane and Santos finished second, third and fourth respectively to also advance.
The competition, which is being sponsored by Banks DIH Ltd. commenced last October but due to the inclement weather, was rescheduled. The semi-finals are billed for April 2 at the Tucville ground with the final set to take place on April 4 at the Banks DIH ground.
