Stage set for Dr Cheddi Jagan memorial road race

Cycling action resumes today after a short break with the staging of a 50-mile road race in memory of the late president of Guyana Dr. Cheddi Jagan.
The race, which commences from Supenaam at 9am this morning will see the cyclists proceeding to Charity before returning to Anna Regina for the finish.
The event is sponsored by Tamesh Jagmohan and members of the People’s Progressive Party/Civic (PPP/C) will be on hand to start the race and present prizes upon its completion.
Veteran and upright cyclists will cover a distance of 25 miles on the Essequibo coast.
The first six cyclist to complete the event will receive prizes along with the first three juniors, veterans and upright cyclists.
There will also be 10 prime prizes at stake during the race.
Transportation for officials and cyclists who have registered will be available, and those desirous must assemble outside the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sport building on main Street for departure which is set for 5am.
The event has been organized by national cycling coach Hassan Mohammed .
