Plaisance United, Crane square-off in Coca Cola final

Plaisance United of East Coast Demerara and Crane of West Demerara will contest this evening’s Coca Cola Under-15 football final at Banks DIH ground, Thirst Park.
Kick off is at 18:00 h
Plaisance United scored a nail-biting 3-2 win over Santos Football Club, while Crane advanced after their match against Alpha United was called off by the referee following an off the ball incident involving players from the Alpha United team.
The West Demerara side was leading 2-0 when the fixture was aborted with 10 minutes of play remaining in the first match of the double header.
In the second match, a hattrick of goals by Treyon Hamilton denied Santos a place in the final.
Hamilton was on target in the 11th, 50th with the winning goal being scored two minutes before the end of regulation time.

The Plaisance striker sent his team in the lead in the see-saw affair but Santos’s leading goal scorer in the competition Mark Welsh equalized in the 37th before Hamilton struck again.

Welsh who scored four goals to propel his team into the semi-finals equalized once again in the 52nd before Hamilton’s decider.

President of the Georgetown Football Association (GFA), Troy Mendonca disclosed that the Alpha United team would be taking no further part in the competition and the third-place will be awarded to Santos.

Mendonca said the GFA is awaiting the referee’s report before disciplinary action could be taken in the matter.

Today’s final should be an interesting affair with both teams showing top form in the competition. Plaisance will be spearheaded by Hamilton, Jevon Gibson, Leaon Charles and William Europe, while Crane will have in their line up Clive Clear and Jorry Adams.
The tournament is sponsored by Banks DIH and their Marketing Director George McDonald and Soft Drink Manager Jennifer Khan are expected to meet the finalists before the start of play.
