Pouderoyen, Young Achievers clash in West Side Cup final

Reigning West Demerara Football Association champions Pouderoyen and Young Achievers, will clash this afternoon in the final of the West Side Cup while Den Amstel will oppose Stewartville in the third-place play-off at the Den Amstel ground from 5pm.
Pouderoyen’s place in the final, which kicks off at 7pm, came at the expense of Den Amstel after an investigation by the WDFA executives, discovered that the home team’s supporters had disrupted the lighting system.
At the time of the disruption, Pouderoyen were leading 2-0 through a Clement Browne double in the 14th and 50th minutes. Young Achievers defeated Stewartville 4-3 on penalty kicks after the two sides had battled to a 1-1 draw in the other semi-final.
Browne will again be the spearhead of Pouderoyen’s line-up with support expected to come from Delon Josiah, Toni Seepersaud, Garlan Lewis with Marvin Griffith performing duties between the uprights.
Among the Young Achievers line-up will be leading goal scorer in the competition, Jason Critchlow, Osbourne Gomes, Eon Kennedy, Cleus George, Andy Gillis and Jamal Thom.
The winning team will receive $50,000 with $25,000 and $15,000 respectively going to the second and third-placed teams.

Meanwhile the WDFA met recently and decided to suspend Sherwin Lanferman indefinitely  for assaulting a referee during a match between Crane and Pouderoyen at the Den Amstel ground in the same competition, and he will also not be allowed to enter any venue at which matches are being played under the auspices of the WDFA.
