Rain postpones Premier League opener

The Georgetown Football Association/Guyana Telephone and Telegraph Ltd.,-sponsored Cellink Plus, Premier League first-division football tournament scheduled to kick off yesterday at the Tucville ground has been postponed due to persistent rainfall.

According to a release from the Georgetown Football Association (GFA) the event will now commence on Friday evening at the said venue beginning at 17:00 hrs.

As usual there will be a march past of all competing teams which will be followed by the scheduled league matches which pits Georgetown Football Club (GFC) against defending champions Alpha United FC and Uprising against Pele Football Club.

According to the release Minister of Public Works and Hydraulics, Robeson Benn will be the keynote speaker while Guyana Football Federation (GFF) president, Colin Klass will also deliver remarks. (KB)
