Chrysanthemum blossoms to take 2008 Senior Citizens Bocce Title

Team Chrysanthemum with 15 points won the 2008 Senior Citizens Bocce tournament when they defeated Buttercup who finished on 12 points in the final held on the lawns of the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sport yesterday. The tournament which was sponsored by the Special Olympics Guyana and National Sports Commission began on April 1 with team Chrysanthemum, Buttercup, Dahlia and Sunflower competing for the first place trophy.

Yesterday, the final positions were decided after the finals commenced at 9:45 hrs as the 2008 Bocce Champions were successful in their ‘Two (2) Frame’ encounter (A Frame is won when a team reaches 16 points before the opposition).  Dahlia withered Sunflower to take the 3rd place position as “they got their Bocce Balls closer to the ‘Target Balls’ more consistently,” which is the objective of the game in their double Frame game concluding the tournament on 9 points, fourth, with 6 points.
