Goodluck top shooter at West Indies Fullbore individual championship

Ransford Goodluck ended as the top West Indian shooter at the West Indies Fullbore Individual Shooting Championship after three days of competition that featured shooters from Antigua and Barbuda, Barbados, Bermuda, Canada, Guyana, Jamaica, London & Middlesex Rifle Association and Trinidad & Tobago at Twickenham Rifle Ranges in Jamaica.

The Guyanese Top Gun secured a grand aggregate score of 388 points with 33 V-bulls to finish ahead of his West Indian counterparts but two points behind eventual winner Englishman Andrew Wilde of the LMRA who shot 390.47.

 Major Terrence Stuart of Guyana who held the lead in the ‘O’ Class Division on the first two days of competition  finished in second position in that division with a total of 352.18.

Another Guyanese Richard “Dickie” Fields won the final day aggregate of the Individual competition after he shot scores of 48 points with 4 V-bulls, 35 points with 4 V-bulls and 47 points with 3 V-bulls to end with an overall   tally of 130.11. The ranges shot at were the 500, 600 and 900 yards. 

Claude Duguid shot a possible at the 500 yards with a 50.5 which was a second place finish.

 Both Dylan and Richard Fields also shot possibles at the 600 yds ranges with Dylan shooting 35.4 which was second and Richard shooting 35.3.  Richard was tied with LMRA shooter Wilde with 49.5 at the 900 range but lost on a count back.

In the top ten West Indian shooters Guyana held four positions. 

Ransford Goodluck, Dylan Fields, Richard Fields and Mahendra Persaud were second, third, fourth and eighth respectively in the overall aggregate.

Meanwhile, Guyana has named a strong team including one US-based shooter for today’s Milex Cup Long Range Team match over 600, 900 and 1000 yards ranges.

The experienced US-based shooter John Fraser was included in the eight-man team that will be captained by Mahendra Persaud.

The other shooters named are Ransford Goodluck, Dylan Fields, Richard Fields, Ryan Sampson, Dane Blair and Claude Duguid.

Guyana will defend the Short Range Team title tomorrow, the final day of the championships.
