Mimoon Bacchus and her nieces Nazrene Mirza and Lin Alladin were the warm-hearted women who donated the bikes to commonwealth boxing hopefuls; which were purchased from the China Trading Shopping Centre on Robb Street.

From these six athletes,  four will be selected to represent Guyana in Punai, India.
“I came in for my nephew’s funeral and I was staying by Affeeze Khan (President of the Guyana Amateur Boxing Association) and heard about the boys and decided to donate two bicycles and my two nieces also heard about them and donated two bicycles each, ” said Bacchus.
The bikes are to help the boys in getting to practise early in the morning as they sometimes encounter transportation problems which cause them to be late for their training session.

“I think it will be easier now to get to training in the morning now cause most times we reach late for training,” one of the boxers said.

“It’s a tiring task going to morning sessions we sometimes miss training session because of no early morning transportation,” another added.
The six athletes said they were very grateful to the donors. Also present at the ceremony were Affeeze Khan and the coach Carl Franklin.
