Corentyne Comprehensive and Canje to clash in Kool Kidz final

Corentyne Comprehensive and Canje Secondary Schools will clash in the final of the inaugural Inter- Secondary School Under-19 Twenty20 competition tomorrow after contrasting victories in their semifinal matches.

The tournament, sponsored by the Guyana Beverage Company (Kool Kidz) and Rose Hall Town Youth and Sports Club, saw CCHS defeating Skeldon High by six wickets at the Area ‘H’ ground, whilst Canje squeezed past Berbice High by one run at Cumberland ground.

Skeldon won the toss and posted 115-7 from their 20 overs with Clive Pestano 46 (8x4s) and Alvin Razack 38 not out (3x4s) the principal scorers. Berbice Under-15 leg spinner, Shawn Perreira took 4-14 and Andy Ramsarran 2-17 for CCHS who replied with 120-4 from 17.5 overs.
Captain Veerapen Permaul struck an aggressive 51 not out (5x4s; 1×6), whilst Damien Branco was with him at the end when the result was formalized on 20 (4x4s). Neil Profit took 2-20 for CCHS.

At Cumberland, home team Canje Secondary batted first after winning the toss and chalked up 110-8 in their 20 overs with opener Jermaine John 28 (3x4s), Totaram Sooknanan 16, and Derick Cadogan 15 leading the batting.

Kevin Bridgelall with 4-8 and Xavier Fraser 2-15 did the damage for BHS who were bowled out for 109 with the final delivery of the 20th over despite a defiant 33 from Raymond Chowtie and Troy Henry, who supported with 16.

Bowling for Canje, Cadogan claimed 4-14 to cap a brilliant all round performance whilst Sooknanan also took 2-24.
The final will be played tomorrow at the Area ‘H’ ground from 1:00pm and is expected to be carried live on NCN Radio.
