Maverick wins twice

Maverick cricket team won twice as Zone `B’ matches of the Demerara Cricket Board (DCB) Neal and Massy 40-overs-a-side national club competition continued at several venues recently.

At the Cornelia Ida ground, Mavericks defeated New Line Aqua Farm by six wickets.
Batting first, New Line Aqua Farm were dismissed for 119 in 35 overs with Kellon Merchant top scoring with 52 not out.

Bowling for Maverick, Julian Williams captured three wickets for 27 runs and Shaun Jairaj 1-18.

Maverick, in reply, reached 120 for 4 off 30.3 overs with Imtiaz Hack unbeaten on 32.

Lalta Suknanan chipped in with 28 while Alim Khan made 26.
Bowling for New Line Aqua Farm, Kellon Merchant grabbed two wickets for 17 runs.
And, against the University of Guyana at the Cornelia Ida ground, Maverick batted first and were dismissed for 155 in 38.5 overs with Bisram Thomas and Nigel Vieira each scoring 32.

UG in reply were dismissed for 80 in 31 overs with Rabindranauth Seeram bagging four wickets.
At the Enmore ground, East Coast First Division batted first and scored 165-7 in 35 overs with Zaheer Mohammed scoring 66 and Adrian Persaud 58.
Bowling for Lusignan, Chandrika Jeenarine captured 3-19 and Kumar Bishundial 2-27.

Lusignan in reply, were dismissed for 138 in 33.5 overs with Harrinarine Hira top scoring with 38.

Bowling for East Coast First Division, Calvin Sukraj bagged 3-22 and Surat Ramkisson 3-13.

And, at Lusignan, the homesters won by seven wickets against Nandy Park.
Nandy Park batted first and were dismissed for 160 in 35 overs with Neil Richardson 55 and Dennis Mangroo 33 the principal scorers.
Bowling for Lusignan, Hardeo Persaud grabbed 3- 17.

Lusignan, in reply reached 161-3 in 23 overs with Hira top scoring with 55.
 Soamnauth Bharrat and Imran Khan chipped in with 36 runs each.

At Enmore, New Line Aqua Farm defeated East Coast First Division  seven wickets in a match reduced to 35-overs-a-side because of rain.

East Coast First Division batted first and were dismissed for 114 in 27.5 overs
with Marvin Cato, 40 and Ravi Singh, 30, the principal scorers.

Bowling for New Line Aqua Farm, B. Baksh bagged 4-18 and C. Gittens 3- 27.
New Line Aqua Farm in reply reached 115 for 3 in 32.3 overs with A.  Aziz 44 and B. Baksh 22 the principal scorers.
Calvin Sukraj picked up 1-16.
