NAMILCO gives junior pugilists energy food

Moonchan Sankar, Herlando Allicock, Stefan Gouveia, Rondell Douglas, Clevon Rock and Akeem Alexander are all junior pugilists in training to represent Guyana at the upcoming Caribbean Cadet Junior/Female Boxing Championships in Trinidad next month.

At a simple ceremony held in the boardroom of the National Milling Company (NAMILCO) on Friday afternoon, they were the recipients of several cartons of Cream of Wheat cereal, courtesy of the manufacturers, NAMILCO.

“It is a pleasure to be making this contribution to the GABA. NAMILCO has been a supporter of lots of sporting activities here in Guyana including the Caricom Cycle Road Race, football and recently boxing where one of our staff and a former outstanding junior boxer Clive Atwell is presently in Chicago, USA participating in amateur boxing.”

He added, “Although you will be fighting individually, you are still a part of a team representing your coaches, family, many friends, teammates and most importantly, your country. With this in mind, I urge you to go there and do your best and make your country proud.”

Khan thanked the sponsors for their continued support not only to the sport but to the GABA and looked forward to the upcoming National Amateur Open Champion-ships that will be held from 18th -20th July and are being sponsored by NAMILCO.

“I am earnestly looking forward to this championships as the sponsors in this case NAMILCO will be providing for the GABA, a special overhead lighting facility that will give added lighting to the ring during the championships.”

Khan concluded: “Thanks to the management and staff of NAMILCO for these two timely donations and I am looking forward to working with them on the future.”
