The tournament, which is in its fifth year, will see play in several categories in knockout as well as round robin formats.

Vice-president of the GLTA, Dr. Joseph Haynes, thanked the sponsors and called on the youths to give of their best.

He noted that the game had lots of financial gains especially in the international arena.

GLTA coach, Shelly Daly-Ramdyhan, said she was pleased that most of the youths who took part in the recently-concluded two-week training session sponsored by P& P Insurance Company, would be participating in the tournament.

She said she envisaged that the two-week tournament would be an action-packed one with some 130 matches earmarked to be played.

Accounts Supervisor of Nigel’s Supermarket and national table tennis player  Christopher Franklyn, on behalf of the sponsors,  said that his company was happy to be on board for the fifth year in a row and encouraged the youths to have fun and play hard.

The tournament is being sponsored at a cost of over $150, 000 and the winners will receive trophies and other incentives.
