The second annual international U-15 schoolgirls Twenty20 windball Goodwill cricket series between Guyana and Trinidad and Tobago bowled off yesterday by Director of Sport Neil Kumar.

Speaking of the tournament, which is being played at the National Park tarmac, Kumar said he was especially proud that the event was being staged as it gave the youngsters an early start in a competitive sport.

He congratulated the organizers for the efforts they put into making sure that the event, which is in its second year, got out of the starting blocks. The Director of Sport said that sports is one of the few things that bring all persons and countries together and said he hoped that this fusing of the two teams will in the long run become friends and that the friendships will prevail.

Reflecting on Carifesta X, Kumar said he was hopeful that some of the girls would be in the Trinidad and Tobago contingent for the festival which starts on August 22.

Meanwhile, Trinidad and Tobago Manager Joyce Ishmael said that she was happy to be here to see her team in action whether the team won or lost.

She disclosed that the team included three members of last year’s team which was beaten by five matches to nil.
