Wins for Regal, Ariel as DCMO softball tourney continues

There were wins for Ariel and Regal when the District of Columbia Metro Cultural Organisation (DCMO)-sponsored, limited overs softball competition continued last Sunday at two venues in the Capital City.

In the first match Destiny’s XI lost to Ariel. Ariel, batting first, made 111 in their allotted 15 overs with M Bishun scoring 76 runs and S Kingston 16.
Nigel Ramdehol and S Hansraj took three wickets each for Destiny, who in reply, was dismissed for 96 in 14.3 overs with Chris Ramnarine scoring 20, S Deosarran 17 and Ramdehol 15.

Paul Mangar, P Motilall and D Persaud took three wickets each for Ariel.

And, Trophy Stall, batting first, scored 133 for 6 wickets from their allotted 15 overs with R Mohamed scoring 49 and M Fung 24.

L Roopnarine and M Chunilall took two wickets each for Regal.

Regal, in reply, scored 136 runs for the loss of five wickets with Haslim 72 and M Arjune 34, not out, the main contributors.

Ariel also got the better of DeFalcons scoring 175 for 4 with R Latiff’s 59 the top score. Davendra Narine supported with 42 while Bishun chipped in with 29.

Bowling for DeFalcons, R Persaud and K Inniss picked up a wicket each.

The competition continues today with fourth round matches at the NIS and Softball grounds on Carifeta Avenue.

Three matches are scheduled for the Guyana Softball Cricket Association’s number one ground under umpires Patrick Edwards and Raymond Mohammed.

From10 am Wolf’s Warriors will oppose Park Rangers while De Falcons will oppose Regal from 12.30 pm. The final game will bring together Wolf’s Warriors and Savage from 2.30 pm. And at the NIS ground, two matches are scheduled with Regal taking on Demerara Power Company from 10 am and Ariel opposing Savage from 12.30 pm.

The umpires will be Barry Persaud and Ganga Persaud.

Teams are reminded that their list of 11 players must be submitted before the commencement of their matches.
